About Spring Cleaned Mom

I was going to call this “Detoxed Mom” but I thought that sounded too harsh.  Eventually, the emphasis of this blog will move away from drugs and alcohol and on to more mundane things like, oh I dunno, like me 🙂  I am a 43 year old working mother of two young boys, neither of whom are in school yet.  Fortunately, I love my life and I love my work.  I also love to play hard and I think that getting married and having children has been a major source of conflict in my life because I have had to give up so many of the things I love to do.  This blog is about my journey to find a way to balance work, motherhood, wifeyness and a social life.  I hope to find some friends who can identify with me.

  1. I like your choice of “spring cleaned.” It’s clever. I’m 37 and just about the only one of my friends who hasn’t had kids. I don’t feel the pull, but I also like my lifestyle (lots of travel, days to myself, able to pick up and go on a whim.) 🙂 I love your honesty about the fulfillment and the conflict this has brought into your life!

    • Thank you for the compliment. I was almost 38 when I had my first child. I was in no hurry and spent most of my 30 single and playing hard. It was a very rude awakening to find myself pregnant. Fortunately, this was a planned pregnancy so I was somewhat prepared for it. My second child was born when I was 40. We have no family where we live so we rarely get a break and rarely get “adult” time. Both of us are athletes and this has also been very challenging. For me, athleticism is just for fun, but my husband was a very serious athlete, and still is to a lesser degree. So finding balance is never easy.
